Why Are Previous Versions Still Available?

Although only the much-expanded Third Edition and its code in C++ are now supported products, there are many legacy applications that use obsolete Second Edition, or even First Edition, code. Also, computer languages such as C, Fortran, Pascal, Modula 2, BASIC, and Lisp were available only in previous editions. We are pleased that most previous versions are still available for users with a special need for them.
