What is Numerical Recipes™ Electronic?

Numerical Recipes Electronic is the Numerical Recipes book in electronic form. It provides unlimited on-line access to PDF files that look and feel like the pages of Numerical Recipes Third Edition - but better! The electronic edition is more colorful, has clickable hyperlinks, and is more frequently updated. Numerical Recipes Electronic is sold as an annual subscription, including new and updated sections that are not in the printed book. Subscribers can view, print, download, and copy the book files. Offline, as well as on-line, viewing and printing are supported, so subscribers can use Numerical Recipes on airplanes, when they are under water, or in outer space.

Book, or Electronic, or both?

If you purchase the book and also subscribe to Numerical Recipes Electronic, a coupon in the book entitles you to convert your initial subscription to a lifetime* subscription at no additional cost.

What Kinds of Subscriptions Are There?

Individuals may purchase three-year subscriptions, convertable to lifetime* subscriptions by coupon in the book. One individual subscription allows the activation of up to three machines (for example, office, home, and laptop). Individual subscribers may also wish to purchase the Numerical Recipes Code download, a separate product that includes a perpetual, single-user license for the code.

Groups, companies, and universities may purchase institutional subscriptions valid on any number of machines within a fixed IP address range. Further information is here. Institutional subscriptions also include access to Numerical Recipes Code and a license for its unlimited use on subscriber machines. (There is no separate institutional code product.)

System Requirements

Numerical Recipes Electronic is available for Windows (XP and Vista), Macintosh (OSX), and Linux users. We hope to offer a Solaris version at a later time. Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader version 7 or later is required (available for free). A connection to the Internet at least once every 30 days is required.

Where Are the Files?

If you are already a subscriber, or want to browse free sections as a guest, the portal is here. (You might want to bookmark the portal after you go there the first time.)
